We arrived safely and now Day 4 in downtown Dartford, Kent (Rob's home town). Surprisingly great weather! Since arriving our focus has been on finalising our Vespa arrangments to get her on the road. Our plan was to leave this weekend and head to the south coast to get the ferry across to France BUT due to UK changes regarding motor bike licences, we now have to wait for up to 3 weeks before we can register our bike. In a nutshell, we need to insure the bike to register it but unbeknown to us, our bike advisor - Craig from BMG Scooters - and our research, UK insurance companies will now not accept anything other than a full UK bike licence to register the bike - even though we have a a full Australian bike licence. Thankfully the DVLA (the RTA equivalent) do acknowledge the Aussie licence and will upgrade Rob's UK licence so we can insure the bike. But this can take up to 3 weeks, hence our take off being delayed!
So what do we do? Explore another part of the world of course so we are heading to Belgium on the Eurostar to investigate Brussells and Bruges. Think of all that wonderful Belgium beer and chocolate. HR team, I will do it for you :)-
But before that exciting adventure starts, we are spending the weekend with our friends Kieron and Cheryl in Rye, approx. 2 hours south of London, a gorgeous smugglers town.
Until next time, happy days!

Well, we're glad you have reached England safely. Phyllis did ring and say that you had Vespa problems. We all knew that no 'scooter' would not stop the two of you. Sounds like a wonderful plan you have come up with - would love to visit Belgium. Tony very happy here this afternoon - Geelong are into the Grand Final. GO CATS. Take care xxxxx
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it over to our part of the world safely! Kim and I loved Italy and I'm so jealous of you guys who will get to spend a lot of time there. I managed to eat about 5 times my body weight in past alone last week. Enjoy Belgium! :) Kat XOXO
